Re: Dante Citizen Award 2012

Dear Marco Nobili, on behalf of the Dante Alighieri Society Michigan, I want to thank you for your successful years of ervice in the JURISDICTION OF THE CONSULATE OF ITALY IN DETROIT. As a Consul you have made it a priority to help every Italian organization in your jurisdiction. You encouraged new ideas and perspectives by inspiring the members of our community to address issues and consider alternatives. As a person, you drew out the best in each of us. Without your efforts the dream of keeping the Italian Consulate here in Detroit would not be even a possibility. Your leadership role was tremendously important to everyone. DETROIT: l’Amb.

Filed under: Uncategorized — italianidetroit @ 11:36 pm

DETROIT: Amb. Bisogniero meets with Italian business community. Consul Nobili: ” FIAT Chrysler and a lot more for Sistema Italia “

Filed under: Uncategorized — italianidetroit @ 11:34 pm

On 9 July Ambassador of Italy Claudio Bisogniero visited Detroit to meet  – together with Consul Marco Nobili – with representatives of the Italian business community there. After meeting with FIAT-CHRYSLER CEO Sergio Marchionne, the ambassador had a working lunch with representatives of Oakland County, where a large number of Italian firms such as – Magneti Marelli, Marposs, Stola Group – are represented, and with whom he discussed possible business and investment opportunities for our firms.

New market segments and local legislative incentives

The presidents of Magneti Marelli USA and Marposs America illustrated their companies’ activities in the American market based on a constant increase in demand in the automotive sector, and the possibility of expanding into new market segments, even by absorbing other companies.

Meeting with county representatives and members of the locally-based Oakland County Economic Development, Ambassador Bisogniero discussed follow-ups to the March 2012 visit to Italy by a Michigan State delegation, as well as ways to promote investments (both in Italy and in Michigan) and possible new areas for collaboration. Among the incentives envisaged by local legislation, particular stress was placed on both tax cuts for businesses as well as way to facilitate the offer of commercial spaces in Oakland County to new investors free of charge for 90 days. The theme of entry visas for business persons and investors was also confronted.

Year of Italian Culture in the USA

In his meeting with the Italian community of Michigan, Ambassador Biogniero underscored the important contribution that community has made and continues to make to the promotion of the Italian language and culture, not least during last year’s celebration of the 150th anniversary of Italian unity. He also spoke about the Year of Italian Culture in the USA planned for 2013, saying he was sure once again that we could count on the Detroit community’s support.

The ambassador then met with members of the Italian American Alliance for Business and Technology, who included representatives of local Italian firms such as Comau, Teksid, Homedics, Fata Aluminum, ED Group and Venture USA, as well as local representatives of other Italian firms operating in the United States. Their discussions touched, among other things, on possible ways to further reinforce our commercial presence in that area, in addition to possible additional strategies within the context of the Year of Italian Culture in the USA.

School Amici is cooperating with Mondo Insieme, an Italian organization based in Bologna and World Heritage, an American non-profit organization based in California (www.whhosts.com), to implement an exchange student program that will bring to this area native Italian teenagers who will attend American high schools while living with a host family.
Have you ever thought about the opportunity of having a student from Italy living with your family and sharing his/her culture with you? By opening up your heart and your home, you will be giving an exceptional young person the opportunity of a lifetime: to live with your family and to experience the language, customs and culture of your country, while at the same time sharing theirs with you.

World Heritage and Mondo Insieme, with the collaboration of School Amici, are looking for homes for boys and girls, age 16 to 18. These are highly qualified students, who have been carefully selected by their teachers for excellent maturity, ethical characteristics, academic performance and desire to learn another language. All of them also speak English. We would like you to consider this opportunity to partecipate in an invaluable cultural experience, that will also allow you to be firsthand in contact with a native Italian, from whom you can learn some language, traditions and customs that will enrich your life forever.

Families can be made up of couples or single parents, with or without children at home, who are adventurous, fun-loving, responsible, and most of all, caring. You will be able to select a student who is a fit for your family’s lifestyle. You can choose to host for a semester or for the whole school year starting in August/September. All students come with personal medical insurance, pocket money and paid school tuition. The host family just provides a bed and shares their daily meals with him or her.

If you are interested and would like more information or references, please do not hesitate to contact us. We hope that you will take the opportunity to live this unique experience.
Of course feel free to forward this message to whomever may be interested in this program.

Grazie!

LINGUA ITALIANA: CRESCE IL NUMERO DEGLI STUDENTI ALL’UNIVERSITÀ DI MEMPHIS-TENNESSEE

Filed under: Uncategorized — italianidetroit @ 5:04 pm

(aise)
